Amman, Oct. 18 (Petra) – Prime Minister Jafar Hassan said on Sunday
that the Aqaba port system is operating at peak efficiency,
establishing itself as a “vital” regional gateway for neighboring
countries.
Hassan posted on social media that government decisions over the past
year streamlined handling, clearance, and storage operations,
boosting trade flow and supply chain resilience.
He said that the Aqaba–Shediya–Ma’an railway and the Aqaba–Ma’an land
port are top-priority strategic projects that directly complement
port expansion efforts.
Accompanying his post with a video tour of the facilities, Hassan
called for accelerating development projects to boost trade capacity.
During an inspection of the Aqaba Oil Port, he reviewed expansion
efforts designed to increase throughput and meet future demand.
Hassan noted that past regional crises present an opportunity to
position Aqaba as a central hub for the Middle East over the long
term.
