Shura Council Holds 17th Ordinary Session

Riyadh, January 23, 2023, SPA — The Shura Council today held its 17th Ordinary Session of the 3rd year under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Dr. Mishal bin Fahm Al-Sulami.
At the outset of the session, the council voted on approving a draft memorandum of cooperation between the Saudi Ministry of Education and its Chinese counterpart for teaching the Chinese language, after the Committee on Education and Scientific Research submitted its report on the draft memorandum of cooperation, which was read by the head of the committee Dr. Aisha Zakari.
The council also approved the Kingdom’s joining an agreement to protect phonogram producers from illegally cloning their phonograms without permission, following the submission of a report by Head of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee Nasser Al-Dughaither.
Later on, the council approved a draft memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University in Saudi Arabia and the General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force in academic, medical, training, and research services, based on the submission of a report by Dr. Aisha Zakari, Head of the Committee on Education and Higher Education, on the committee’s opinion regarding the draft MoU.
Meanwhile, the Shura Council approved two draft cooperation agreements on security and the entry of pilgrims between the governments of Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh. The approval followed the submission of the Committee on Security and Military Affairs of its report, which was read by the head of the committee Major General Mansour Al-Turki
The council also approved a draft MOU between the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Saudi Arabia and the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Tajikistan in combating terrorism, its financing, money laundering, and related offenses (predicate crimes). The council’s decision came after the Committee on Islamic and Judicial Affairs reviewed its report on the draft MOU, read by the head of the committee Dr. Ali Al-Shahrani
Also, the council approved a draft MOU for cooperation between the Ministry of Justice of Saudi Arabia and the Attorney General’s Office and the Ministry of Justice of Gambia. The council adopted its decision after the Islamic and Judicial Affairs Committee submitted its report on the draft memorandum, which was read by Dr. Ali Al-Shahrani, head of the committee.
Meanwhile, the council approved a draft MOU between the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Information and Culture of Kuwait for cooperation in tourism. The council adopted its decision after the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee submitted its report on the draft memorandum, which was read by Nasser Al-Dughaither, head of the committee.
