20 Startup Teams Participate in Second Edition of AI HackathonMuscat, 30 Oct (ONA) — The second edition of the Artificial Intelligence Hackathon kicked off today in Muscat.Organized by the Omani Promising Startups Program and Omantel Innovation Labs, the event aims to empower entrepreneurs and innovators in the early stages of establishing their companies to transform real-world challenges into solutions based on AI technologies.This four-day hackathon features participation from approximately 20 startup teams across various sectors. These teams consist of owners of innovative ideas and early-stage startups seeking to leverage artificial intelligence to develop new solutions and scalable business models.The hackathon focuses on enhancing the capabilities of startup founders in identifying opportunities for AI application, designing prototypes using no-code programming tools, and developing sustainable business models under the guidance of a select group of experts and mentors in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship.The hackathon is part of the efforts by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Riyada) to entrench a culture of technology and innovation-based entrepreneurship. It is held in partnership with a supportive ecosystem that includes entities from both the public and private sectors, providing a practical experience that combines learning and application through specialized workshops.At the conclusion of the hackathon, the winning teams that presented innovative solutions with practical impact and promising growth opportunities will be awarded with financial prizes of RO 3,000 each. Additionally, they will receive opportunities for further follow-up and support within the Omantel Innovation Labs accelerator ecosystem.This hackathon serves as a comprehensive platform to equip entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge, and strategic partnerships needed to transform their ideas into impactful projects.
