Amman, January 12 (Petra) – Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) is scheduled to host a Philippine trade mission on February 9, comprised of 13 commercial and industrial companies, within the framework of enhancing bilateral trade cooperation.
The mission seeks to open “fresh”horizons for trade exchange and introduce Jordanian market to Philippine products, which contributes to providing investment opportunities in the food and consumer products sectors, according to an ACC statement.
The Philippine companies operate in the sectors of food industries, desserts, chocolate, fast food, ready-made meals, beverages, skin care products, tropical fruits, frozen vegetables, and other sectors.
During his meeting Sunday with Philippines Ambassador to Jordan, Wilfredo C. Santos, ACC First Vice President, Nabil Khatib, said exchanging trade missions and organizing mutual visits for companies and businesspeople would contribute to building “stronger and more sustainable” Jordanian-Philippine trade relations.
Khatib also stressed the Chamber’s readiness to facilitate tasks of the visiting trade mission and organize bilateral meetings with companies and business owners in Jordan, which enhances cooperation opportunities and trade exchange.
For his part, Santos said his country, which has “strong” relations with the Kingdom, seeks to increase volume of trade and exploit the two countries’ untapped export opportunities and overcome any obstacles to achieve this goal.
The diplomat noted the Philippine trade mission will begin a tour in the Middle East and Arab Gulf region, as Jordan will be the first stop, and is comprised of officials from Ministries of Industry and Trade, and may include business owners working in the tourism sector.
Santos said the mission’s “diverse” nature reflects the Philippines’ keenness to enhance cooperation with the Kingdom in various economic sectors, primarily tourism, which represents a “promising” industry in strengthening bilateral relations.
