Abu Hamad, River Nile, March 16, 2026 (SUNA) – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, paid tribute to officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the armed forces, supporting units, and mobilized volunteers for their sacrifices during the “Battle of Dignity” in defense of the Sudanese people’s honor and dignity.Speaking during the annual Ramadan iftar organized by the Nazir (Chieftain) of the Rubatab tribe, Khalifa Al-Sheikh Al-Saiem, in Al-Gezira Mograt area of Abu Hamad in River Nile State, Al-Burhan said the peaceful coexistence prevailing in the state should serve as a model for other states across the country.He noted that people from diverse ethnic backgrounds and tribes have merged into a cohesive national fabric, adding that the state has received large numbers of citizens displaced by the war.Al-Burhan said gold mining has become one of the principal pillars of the national economy and a key factor in sustaining the Sudanese state, despite the numerous challenges facing workers in the sector.He also directed the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company to ensure the optimal use of corporate social responsibility funds and channel them toward local communities to support service and development projects.The TSC President stated that the state’s objective is to liberate Sudan from the rebellion, asserting that the rebels seek to seize the state and its resources and gains. He stressed that the army and the Sudanese people stand in the same trench to confront such plans.“Our project is to cleanse the country of any individual, party, or group seeking to seize its resources and capabilities,” he said, affirming that no one will be able to hijack the Sudanese state.Al-Burhan added: “We do not recognize the Muslim Brotherhood, the National Congress, or the Communists. We recognize only the Sudanese people — and we will live and die with them.”He affirmed that the army will not abandon the Sudanese people and will exert every effort to safeguard the nation’s dignity.He also stated that the “Battle of Dignity” will continue until the rebellion is eradicated and the country is cleared of rebel forces, declaring that there will be no truce, ceasefire, or reconciliation with them until they lay down their arms.Al-Burhan further said that politicians currently abroad could return to Sudan if they “return to the right path,” adding that they would be welcomed under those circumstances.BH/BH
