Doha, April 08 (QNA) – Al Sadd qualified for the quarterfinals of the Qatar Basketball Cup for the 2025-2026 season after defeating Al Ahli 78-67 in their preliminary round match Wednesday evening.
The four quarters ended with scores of 23-9, 20-25, 17-12, and 18-21 in favor of Al Sadd.
Al Sadd’s Mustafa Fouda was named MVP of the match after scoring 18 points, grabbing three rebounds, and providing five assists.
Al Sadd will face Al Arabi in the quarterfinals next Saturday, April 11.
Later this evening, the first quarterfinal match will take place, with Al Rayyan facing Al Khor in a highly anticipated encounter.
Al Rayyan will be looking to bounce back from their league loss to Al Arabi, while Al Khor hopes to cause an upset and continue their journey in the tournament.
The quarter-final matches are scheduled to continue on Thursday, at Al Gharafa Sports Club, with Al Wakrah facing Qatar SC and Al Gharafa taking on Al Shamal in two evenly matched encounters, both teams eager to advance.
As for the semi-finals, scheduled for April 13th, the winner of the Al Wakrah-Qatar SC match will face the winner of the Al Gharafa-Al Shamal match, while the winner of the Al Rayyan-Al Khor match will play the winner of the Al Arabi-Al Ahli match.
The winners of these semi-finals will then meet in the championship final on April 16th at Al Gharafa Sports Club. (QNA)
