Amman, Amsterdam Discuss Expanding Municipal, Climate Cooperation

Amman, Oct. 19 (Petra) — Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh met Sunday with Dutch Ambassador to Jordan Stella Kloth to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and joint initiatives between Amman and Amsterdam.

During the meeting, held at GAM’s headquarters, Shawarbeh reviewed the municipality’s plans and projects aimed at improving public services, praising the “depth” of Jordanian-Dutch relations built on continuous collaboration.

Shawarbeh reaffirmed GAM’s “commitment” to strengthening ties with Amsterdam, expanding joint work, and exploring new areas of cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.

Kloth, in turn, commended Amman’s progress in municipal and cultural development, commending the municipality’s efforts to improve infrastructure and public services for the city and its residents.

The diplomat also expressed her government’s readiness to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise between the two sides.

GAM and the Government of the Netherlands currently cooperate in several areas, including urban development, climate resilience, smart water management, green infrastructure, and cultural exchange, as well as a planned Amman flower market project and joint training programs.
