AOAD launches pisciculture workshop in Northern Jordan Valley

Irbid, October 21 (Petra) – The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), in cooperation with the Northern Jordan Valley Agriculture Directorate, held a pisciculture-related training workshop on Tuesday, with the participation of farmers from the local community.

Talking at the opening session, the directorate’s chairman, Mohammad El-Naeem, said the fish farming sector has become a “valuable” resource in providing job opportunities and achieving food security.

El-Naeem added that the industry also receives attention of the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture under the National Sustainable Agriculture Plan, especially after launching financing facilities for “pioneering” agricultural projects through agricultural loans.

El-Naeem called for implementing training workshops and quality guidance programs, aimed to guide farmers on the best practices in the industry, providing technical support, and transferring modern agricultural technologies to this vital sector.

In turn, AOAD representative, Ahmed Qudah, presented the latest technical practices in the pisciculture field and methods for developing fish production in the region.

The participants, at one of the region’s enclosures, were briefed on practical applications related to farm management, feeding and marketing methods.
