Arab, Islamic
Nations Issue Joint Condemnation of US Ambassador’s Remarks on Occupied
Territories
Muscat, 22 Feb
2026 (ONA) — A coalition of Arab and Islamic countries, including the
Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Hashemite Kingdom of
Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of
Egypt, the Republic of Türkiye, the State of Palestine, and the State of
Kuwait, alongside the Arab League, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and the
Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has issued a forceful joint
statement denouncing recent remarks by the United States Ambassador to Israel
regarding occupied Arab lands.
The statement,
released by the respective foreign ministries, expresses profound condemnation
and grave concern over the ambassador’s suggestion that Israel’s control over
territories belonging to Arab states—including the occupied West Bank—could be
deemed acceptable. The countries describe these remarks as dangerous,
provocative, and a flagrant breach of international law and the United Nations
Charter, posing a serious threat to regional security and stability.
The
signatories emphasize that such statements fundamentally contradict the vision
articulated by US President Donald Trump and the comprehensive framework aimed
at resolving the conflict in Gaza. That framework, they note, is predicated on
de-escalation and the creation of a viable political path toward a
comprehensive settlement that secures the Palestinian people’s right to an
independent state. Any rhetoric seeking to legitimize the seizure of others’
territory undermines these objectives, fuels regional tensions, and constitutes
incitement rather than a contribution to peace.
The statement
reaffirms that Israel holds no sovereignty over occupied Palestinian territory
or any other occupied Arab lands. It categorically rejects any attempts to
annex the West Bank or sever it from the Gaza Strip, strongly opposes the
expansion of illegal settlement activities, and denounces any threats to the
sovereignty of Arab states.
Warning that continued expansionist policies
and unlawful actions by Israel will only precipitate further violence and
conflict while eroding prospects for peace, the joint statement calls for an
immediate end to such inflammatory discourse. The participating nations
reiterate their unwavering commitment to the inalienable right of the
Palestinian people to self-determination and to the establishment of their
independent state along the borders of 4 June 1967, demanding the complete end
of the occupation of all Arab territories.
