Amman, Oct. 25 (Petra) – The Eastern Military Zone of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) successfully thwarted an attempt today, Saturday, to smuggle a quantity of narcotics across the border within its area of responsibility.
The smuggling attempt involved a consignment of illicit drugs being transported via balloons equipped with rudimentary guidance systems.
Border Guard forces, operating in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), detected the airborne devices. The rules of engagement were applied, leading to the interception and bringing down of the balloons and their illicit payload within Jordanian territory.
The confiscated narcotics have been transferred to the relevant competent authorities for the necessary legal procedures and investigation.
