Algerian News Agency - APS

The Algerian Press Agency is at the source of the event and covers the news from four regional directorates (Blida, Ouargla, Constantine and Oran) across the national territory, which coordinate the activities of forty-seven (47) state offices. Abroad, WAJ is represented in twelve capitals (Paris – Brussels – London – Rome – Madrid – Moscow – Amman – Cairo – Dakar – Tunis – Rabat – Washington).

The Algerian News Agency was established on the 1st of December 1961 in Tunisia during the national liberation war in order to be the mouthpiece of the Algerian revolution on the international media scene. And, of course, its headquarters moved on the day of independence to Algeria. It was transformed on April 20, 1991 into a public institution of an economic and commercial nature, and it began to exercise its mission as a public service through the development of the production of general and specialized news of a political, economic, cultural and social nature, especially to publicize the events, works and achievements of Algeria. In this regard, the agency “collects, processes and broadcasts every event, news, comment on the news, or written or illustrated documentary references that form the basis of objective information, while respecting the rules of professional ethics and the requirements of the public service”…

Teams of APS journalists and photographers

WAJ includes 500 workers and recruits no less than 300 journalists, photographers and translators assigned to cover events in a timely manner, 24 hours and seven days, where they draw information from its first source and provide the various media outlets with news, dialogue, analysis and viewpoints on all topics of local, national or international interest. Each regional directorate has its own team of journalists and photographers charged with covering national events across the various states of the country.

WAJ broadcasts about 600 media telegrams per day in three languages ​​(Arabic, French and English). It also ensures the widest possible coverage in addressing general news, whether at the national or international level. The Photography Department, which was re-established in 1998, presents reports dealing with various political, cultural and sports fields, whether at the national or international level. The agency also provides specialized services during major events organized by Algeria, such as the Arab League Summit, the Ninth African Games in Algeria, the Second African Cultural Festival, etc…
