Amman, Feb. 18 (Petra) – Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalayleh on Wednesday launched a campaign to distribute Ramadan food parcels to the Kingdom’s underprivileged households.
The initiative is implemented by Zakat Fund, in cooperation with Mohammad Abu Soufa & Partners Group.
Talking during the launching speech, Khalayleh said the move reflects the ministry’s approach to strengthening faith-based values ??and promoting social solidarity by supporting impoverished and needy families, in partnership with Zakat payers and donors.
Khalayleh also expressed his gratitude to Mohammad Abu Soufa & Partners Group and Zakat Fund for their efforts in supporting underpriviliged families by providing food supplies and parcels during the holy month of Ramadan.
The minister added that this effort contributes to alleviating the living burdens and strengthening the spirit of social solidarity.
For his part, benefactor Mohammed Abu Soufa said the campaign will distribute 10,000 food parcels at a cost of a JD250, 000 to deserving beneficiaries through the Zakat committees in the Kingdom’s various regions.
