Amman, Sept. 2 (Petra) – Minister of Health, Dr. Ibrahim Badour, affirmed the ministry’s “commitment” to providing “quality” mental health services and care , which are a “national priority” with the same importance as other pillars of the Kingdom’s health system.
Visiting National Center for Mental Health on Tuesday, he toured its various departments and closely examined the level of services provided in the psychiatric diagnosis and treatment clinics.
Badour also inspected the judicial department serving patients referred through judicial authorities.
Meeting with patients, he listened to their feedback and comments of the center’s medical and administrative staff, highlighting the key challenges related to their work in the mental health field.
Badour stressed the importance of strengthening the infrastructure of the judicial department to ensure a “safe, dignified, and specialized” environment for patients.
To improve services, he called for developing coordination mechanisms with judicial authorities to facilitate referral and follow-up procedures.
Badour stated that a “comprehensive review” of psychiatric and mental health services will be conducted to enhance technical and medical capabilities.
This process, he noted, is part of a “comprehensive” strategy that addresses the patients’ therapeutic, legal, and humanitarian needs.
