China Initiates WTO Legal Action Against US over Tariffs

China Initiates WTO Legal Action Against US over Tariffs Beijing, 4 Mar (ONA) —- China has initiated legal action against
the US under the World Trade Organization (WTO)’s dispute settlement
mechanism over the latter’s recent tariff hike on Chinese products,
the country’s Ministry of Commerce said today.

The ministry said Beijing expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm
opposition to the US move, noting the unilaterally imposed US tariffs
that breach WTO rules and undermine the foundation of China-US
economic and trade cooperation.
China will resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests
in accordance with WTO rules, and defend the multilateral trading
system and the international economic and trade order, it added.

The United States has announced it will impose an additional 10
percent customs duty on products from China, starting from today.—- Ends/Khalid
