Beirut, Jan 26 (Petra) – Twenty-two Lebanese citizens were killed, and 124 others injured, including nine children and a paramedic, in a revised toll announced by Lebanon’s Ministry of Health following an Israeli attack on Sunday targeting convoys of southern Lebanese residents returning to their towns after the ceasefire deadline expired.
A Lebanese security source told Petra’s correspondent in Beirut that the Lebanese army accompanied citizens into 18 towns, where residents of Maroun al-Ras, Yaroun, and Aita al-Shaab set up tents outside their homes, vowing to stay despite the lack of basic living necessities.
The source added that an Israeli force, backed by a Merkava tank and a bulldozer, launched a counter-advance toward a gathering of residents in Meis al-Jabal, where Israeli soldiers fired heavily in their direction.
