Digital Economy Minister checks on airport’s e-gates project workflow 

Amman, Jan. 5 (Petra) – Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Smeirat, visited on Sunday the electronic gates project and the government services center at Queen Alia International Airport.

According to a ministry statement, the Smeirat assessed the workflow and the advancements in delivering digital services during his tour.

He emphasized that the electronic gates project, implemented in collaboration with service partners, including the Ministry of Transport, security agencies, and the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, represents a significant step toward enhancing safety and operational efficiency. The system enables travelers to complete their travel procedures independently without requiring manual assistance.

The minister highlighted that the project leverages advanced technologies to verify travelers’ identities, expediting entry and exit processes with ease and aligning with international best practices.

Smeirat noted the importance of integrating the project with ongoing efforts to launch electronic passports in the coming months. This initiative aims to further accelerate airport procedures, enhance the travel experience, and align with the Kingdom’s digital transformation objectives.

During his visit to the government services center at the airport, the minister observed the operational workflow and listened to citizens’ feedback regarding their satisfaction with the services provided.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to developing and enhancing the services offered through government service centers. These centers are set to be established and operational across all governorates by the end of the year, providing advanced service experiences and aligning with the government’s vision of enhancing the efficiency of public services in line with its economic modernization vision and national priorities.
