Occupied Jerusalem, Feb. 1 (Petra) – Dozens of settlers on Sunday stormed the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound – Al Haram Al Sharif – through the Mughrabi Gate, under heavy protection from Israeli occupation police.
The Islamic Awaqf Department in occupied Jerusalem said in a statement that dozens of settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, conducted suspicious tours in its courtyards, and performed provocative Talmudic rituals in the Bab al-Rahma area east of the mosque.
In a separate development, occupation forces arrested 16 Palestinians on the pretext that they were wanted during raids in various areas of the occupied West Bank. The campaign also included storming dozens of homes, vandalizing their contents, detaining residents for hours, and interrogating them on the spot.
Occupation authorities also forced a Palestinian to demolish his own home in Jabal al-Mukabber, southeast of occupied Jerusalem, on the grounds of building without a permit. The house shelters four people and has an area of about 100 square meters.
In addition, Israeli occupation authorities issued a decision to demolish a residential room in the Silwan area, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem.
