Amman, Sep. 2 (Petra) — The Eastern Military Zone announced Tuesday that its forces successfully intercepted three separate smuggling attempts involving large quantities of narcotics along the eastern border.
According to a statement by the Jordanian Armed Forces–Arab Army, the operations took place at dawn in different locations within the zone’s area of responsibility. The smugglers had used balloons equipped with primitive navigation devices to transport the contraband across the border.
Border Guard units, working in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected, intercepted, and safely brought down the balloons before they reached their intended destinations. The seized narcotics were handed over to the competent authorities for legal action.
The Jordanian Armed Forces reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the Kingdom’s borders and maintaining national security, emphasizing that it will continue to confront smuggling attempts and cross-border threats with “full force and vigilance.”
