Cairo, Feb. 21 (Petra) – The Arab Republic of Egypt condemned statements attributed to the U.S. ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, made during a talk show, which included claims regarding Israel’s entitlement to territories belonging to Arab states, describing them as a blatant departure from the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.
In a statement issued by its Foreign Ministry, Egypt expressed its astonishment at the remarks, which it said contradict the vision put forward by U.S. President Donald Trump and the related twenty points concerning ending the war in the Gaza Strip, as well as the Peace Council conference held in Washington on Feb. 19.
Egypt reiterated that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory or any other Arab lands, stressing its categorical rejection of any attempts to annex the West Bank or separate it from the Gaza Strip, as well as its rejection of expanding settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory.
