Cairo, Jan 26 (Petra) – The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Egypt’s firm commitment to the political settlement parameters of the Palestinian issue, stressing that the Palestinian cause remains the central issue in the Middle East.
The ministry pointed out that the delay in finding appropriate solutions for this issue, including the end of Israeli occupation and the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, is the core reason for instability in the region.
In a statement on Sunday, quoted by the Middle East News Agency, the ministry expressed its continuous support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land, and their commitment to their legitimate rights, in line with the principles of international law and international humanitarian law.
The ministry also reiterated its absolute rejection of any infringement on those inalienable rights, whether through settlement activities, land annexation, or by forcibly displacing Palestinians or encouraging their transfer from their land, either temporarily or long-term.
The ministry highlighted that such practices represent a threat to regional stability, potentially expanding the conflict and undermining opportunities for peace and peaceful coexistence among peoples in the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to take serious steps towards the effective implementation of the two-state solution, which includes the establishment of a Palestinian state on its full national territory and ensuring the unity of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in accordance with international legitimacy and the borders set on June 4, 1967.
