Energy Ministry Advances Reforms to Energize Mining Sector

Amman, Dec. 2 (Petra) – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Mining Sector Partnership Council with private-sector representatives to discuss key proposed amendments to the draft law amending the Natural Resources Law, aimed at enhancing the investment environment in Jordan’s mining sector.

Kharabsheh said the new amendments are designed to facilitate investment processes in the mining sector and provide broader incentives to investors.

The meeting is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to review the legislation governing the natural resources sector in line with international best practices.

The revisions seek to stimulate existing projects, attract future investments, and improve procedural clarity, including the calculation of technical costs for mining projects and linking them to production contracts to support economic growth and strengthen the sector.

The ministry has prepared the draft amended law and circulated it to relevant public and private entities for legal and technical feedback to ensure the amendments are comprehensive and aligned with sector needs and investor requirements.

The meeting also comes as a continuation of the ministry’s efforts to review regulatory frameworks and reinforce an attractive investment climate for the mining sector in line with the Economic Modernization Vision.
