Authority, FAO Discuss Enhancing Cooperation in Natural Resource Conservation
Muscat,
26 Feb 2026 (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Environment
Authority, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
(FAO), discussed several topics of mutual interest, particularly in the fields
of environmental protection, environmental sustainability, and enhancing
cooperation with the FAO on issues related to the conservation of natural
resources and biodiversity.
This
took place during a meeting held today between Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri,
Chairman of the Environment Authority, and Dr. Qu Dongyu, Director-General of
the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), within the
framework of his current visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
The
two sides discussed strengthening relations and joint coordination with
relevant authorities, as well as ways to cooperate in environmental and food
sectors of mutual interest.
The
meeting further touched upon enhancing cooperation in environmental aspects and
explored ways to support joint efforts in the fields of environmental
protection, the preservation of natural resources and biodiversity, and the
promotion of environmental sustainability concepts.
