
Cairo, Jan. 29 (Petra) – Former Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, Mohammad Naji Al-Amaireh, emphasized the importance of awareness and cultural education in strengthening Arab culture in light of globalization, civilizational developments, and the technological revolution.
Al-Amaireh, in the presence of Jordan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Amjad Adaileh, delivered a seminar titled “Arab Culture in a Changing World as part of Jordan’s participation in the 56th Cairo International Book Fair.
In his seminar, Al-Amaireh discussed the significance of awareness and education within the cultural framework, stressing that they serve as the first line of defense to protect our cultural heritage from the challenges it faces in a rapidly advancing technological world, as well as to protect our Arab societies from schemes against them.
During the seminar, which was attended by a number of cultural and intellectual figures and visitors to the fair, Al-Amaireh highlighted that Arab culture represents our identity as an Arab-Islamic nation speaking the Arabic language, the language of the Quran.
In his remarks during the seminar, Ambassador Adaileh emphasized the depth and interconnectedness of Jordanian-Egyptian relations, particularly the level of cultural cooperation between the two brotherly countries. He noted that such seminars, which are part of the cultural activities hosted by the Cairo International Book Fair, contribute to enhancing cultural dialogue and exchange, thus forming a bridge for mutual understanding and vision sharing among peoples.
He praised the importance of the seminar’s topic, underscoring the significance of the awareness and education presented by Al-Amaireh, particularly regarding the challenges facing the current generations.
Al-Amaireh told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) after the seminar that Jordanian-Egyptian relations are special on all levels, including the cultural one. He emphasized the unique Jordanian participation in this major international cultural event, which brings together intellectuals, writers, and thinkers from around the world.
He also mentioned that Jordan had been the guest of honor at the Cairo International Book Fair two editions ago, marking a cultural celebration in Egypt and symbolizing the commonalities shared by the two peoples. He highlighted Egypt’s pioneering role, thanks to its strategic geographic position and rich cultural heritage, and referred to the role of both Jordan and Egypt in defending Arab causes.
The seminar was attended by the Jordanian Embassy’s Deputy Ambassador, Riyad Njada, the Director of Studies and Publishing and Director of the Family Library at the Ministry of Culture, Salem Daham, and a delegation from the Ministry of Culture participating in the fair.
