
Amman, Jan. 13 (Petra) – The representative of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Haitham Rawajbeh, lauded the royal directives issued by His Majesty King Abdullah to Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, to form and chair a National Council for Future Technology under the supervision of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah. Its goal is to enhance the Kingdom’s position in advanced technology and the digital economy.
Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Rawajbeh described the royal initiative as a significant step toward fostering innovation in the Kingdom and achieving sustainable development, particularly in light of the global competitiveness in modern technology sectors.
He noted that the establishment of this council reflects the royal vision to position Jordan as a leader in technology and digitization, contributing to the creation of a prosperous digital society and economy.
Rawajbeh highlighted the importance of the council in overseeing the implementation of key projects that align with rapid technological advancements and meet future needs. This includes developing human capital in the technology field and strengthening partnerships with the private sector and relevant institutions.
He emphasized that the council will contribute to devising a clear roadmap for the technology sector, including measurable performance indicators, thereby supporting government efforts to drive the national economy forward.
He stressed the need for collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve the initiative’s objectives, which would enhance the national economy and elevate Jordan’s status on the global innovation and technological development map.
Rawajbeh pointed out that Jordan has a strong foundation of qualified human resources in the ICT field, which is one of the key factors supporting the success of this royal initiative.
He noted that the Kingdom boasts a pool of skilled professionals capable of keeping pace with the latest technologies and innovations, enabling effective interaction with global developments in this sector.
He added that investing in the development of these talents through continuous education and training will be one of the priorities of the National Council for Future Technology. The council will aim to prepare more specialists in modern technology fields such as artificial intelligence, big data analytics, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
Rawajbeh emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between universities, academic institutions, and the public and private sectors to offer advanced training programs tailored to the needs of local and international markets. He also underscored the necessity of supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in this field to ensure continued growth and development in the technology sector.
