Amman, February 9 (Petra) – Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Budaiwi said that Israel’s “illegal and unilateral” violations to impose sovereignty over the occupied West Bank constitute a blatant violation of international law, international resolutions and agreements.
In a statement issued Monday and published on the GCC’s website, Budaiwi condemned the Israeli authorities’ decisions and measures in the occupied West Bank, including attempts to impose fait accompli on the ground in clear contravention of international law and relevant international resolutions.
He called on the international community to assume its legal responsibilities and take firm and decisive action to stop the Israeli violations and ensure respect for international humanitarian law.
Budaiwi said the GCC stands fast in support of the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital as per United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative and to achieve their legitimate aspirations for dignity and peace.
