House Speaker, Foreign Minister Reaffirm Jordan’s Rejection of Palestinian Displacement

Amman, January 27 (Petra) – Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Ahmad Safadi, addressing the legislature on Monday, firmly rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians, underscoring that Jordan will never serve as an alternative homeland.

Presiding over a legislative session attended by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and cabinet members, Safadi criticized proposals aimed at alleviating Gaza’s suffering that align with expansionist Zionist agendas, warning they only foster destruction in the region.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi echoed these sentiments during the session, reaffirming Jordan’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and defending Palestinian sovereignty. He emphasized Jordan’s efforts to sustain the ceasefire in Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid, all under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

The minister highlighted Jordan’s ongoing role in consolidating a two-state solution based on international resolutions, envisioning an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Safadi said Jordan’s position is “clear and well known to all; Jordan stands firmly in support of the Palestinian right to their national land. His Majesty the King has affirmed this on multiple occasions: “Jordan belongs to Jordanians, and Palestine belongs to Palestinians.” The resolution to the Palestinian issue lies on Palestinian soil, where their independent state should be established.'”

The Foreign Minister emphasized that “our relationship with the United States is strategic, and we are committed to strengthening it. We share mutual interests and manage this partnership in a way that serves our common goals.”

He also highlighted the strength of Jordan’s relations with the European Union, noting that ‘in the coming days, we will sign an agreement to elevate Jordanian-European relations into a strategic partnership. This will create significant opportunities for our economy, exports, and tourism. Moreover, this partnership provides us with a valuable platform to assert our positions on key issues, most notably the Palestinian cause.'”
