Khartoum, Jan. 10, 2026 (SUNA) – Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, Muatasim Ahmed Salih, welcomed directives issued by President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan to visit Omdurman Women’s Prison and order the release of hundreds of female inmates, particularly mothers accompanied by their children. He described the move as carrying significant humanitarian and legal weight.In a press statement, Salih affirmed the Ministry’s full readiness to absorb those released into its social protection programs, including psychological and social support as well as economic reintegration initiatives, aimed at strengthening social stability and preventing renewed vulnerability following their release.FA/BH
