Amman, Feb. 18 (Petra) – Interior Minister Mazen Faraya approved completion of release procedures for 546 administrative detainees submitted by administrative governors.
In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry said the decision comes on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan and within the framework of the ministry’s efforts.
The step also aims to enable beneficiaries to reintegrate into society, enhance their opportunities for rehabilitation, and resume their normal lives, spend the holy month with their families.
The ministry added that the move follows a review of the detainees’ cases after competent authorities assured their detention periods were “sufficient.”
On the mechanism, the decision reflects the ministry’s humanitarian approach to administrative detention, while adhering to legal and security controls to curb criminal activity of dangerous individuals.
