Irbid Industry Exports Reach $124.7 Million in July, Driven by Garments and Strong US-EU Demand

IRBID, August 1 (Petra) — The Irbid Chamber of Industry announced
Friday that its issued certificates of origin reached $124.7 million
in July, maintaining a steady upward trajectory compared to $124.6
million during the corresponding period last year, marking a 0.02
percent year-over-year growth. Chamber data indicated a total of
1,576 certificates of origin issued throughout the month, compared to
1,696 certificates in July 2025.

The garment and leather sector retained its dominant market share,
spearheading exports at $113.5 million. Foodstuff, agricultural, and
provisions followed with $5.4 million, while therapeutics and medical
supplies recorded $3.1 million. The remaining export volume
distributed across chemical and cosmetics industries ($1.5 million),
engineering, electrical, plastic, rubber, and construction segments,
alongside packaging, paper, cardboard, and stationery supplies
totaling $192,000, alongside mining sector outputs.

Geographically, the United States anchored international demand,
absorbing $84.7 million in exports. Germany ranked second at $5.1
million, followed by the Netherlands at $4.7 million and Italy at
$3.0 million. Domestically, Al-Hassan Industrial City captured the
lion’s share of production output at $120.9 million, trailed by Cyber
City at $3.0 million, and the chamber’s main headquarters at
$906,000.

Irbid Chamber of Industry Chairman Hani Abu Hassan told the Jordan
News Agency (Petra) that the steady export performance underscores
the manufacturing sector’s resilience and capacity to sustain
international market penetration amid global trade volatility.

Abu Hassan noted that northern industrial clusters continue to
demonstrate robust operational metrics despite regional headwinds,
reflecting ongoing enterprise-level investments in product
competitiveness, production lifecycle optimization, and market
diversification. He emphasized the strategic imperative of
capitalizing on growth within the food manufacturing and European
export corridors to fortify national industry positioning.

Furthermore, Abu Hassan credited Jordan’s conducive investment
ecosystem and streamlined regulatory frameworks with preserving
Jordanian product competitiveness, noting that the chamber continues
to collaborate closely with public sector stakeholders to unlock new
trade corridors and diversify export portfolios.
