JCCA president hails Gov’t decision to extend exemption for renewable energy systems

Amman, Jan. 19 (Petra)– The President of the Jordan Construction Contractors Association (JCCA) Fouad Al-Duwairi commended the Cabinet’s decision to extend the exemption for renewable energy systems, equipment, devices, energy efficiency systems, and their production inputs from customs duties and general sales tax until February 28, 2025.

Al-Duwairi emphasized that the decision is a positive and vital step to support the national economy and enhance the investment environment in the renewable energy sector, which is a cornerstone for achieving sustainable development in the Kingdom.

He explained that the extension of these exemptions provides an additional opportunity for companies operating in the sector to complete their applications and benefit from these advantages. This will help reduce the operational costs of ongoing projects and encourage the establishment of new ones.

Al-Duwairi noted that the contracting sector will benefit directly and indirectly from the decision by stimulating projects related to renewable energy, increasing demand for related construction activities, boosting economic activity, and creating new job opportunities for the local workforce.

He called for continued support for initiatives that invigorate various economic sectors, stressing that expanding the use of renewable energy is a strategic investment to achieve energy security and sustainability.
