JCD announces new measures to facilitate return of Syrians

Amman, Jan. 12 (Petra)– Acting Director-General of the Jordan Customs Department (JCD), Brigadier General Ahmad Al-Akaleek, announced new measures to accommodate the increased number of voluntary returns of Syrian nationals to their homeland, which involves the transportation of their furniture and belongings.

Three additional customs centers have been designated to handle truck documentation for goods heading to Syria, supplementing the existing Jaber Border Customs Center. However, Jaber will remain the final exit point. The newly designated centers are: the Hassan Industrial City Customs Center, covering northern governorates, Mafraq Customs Center, covering Zarqa, Mafraq, and camps, and Amman/Madouna Customs Center, serving Amman and other governorates.

The decision aims to alleviate congestion and prevent truck accumulation within the customs areas at the Jaber Border Crossing, while facilitating smoother transit of goods to Syria.

Al-Akaleek reaffirmed the JCD’s commitment, in coordination with relevant agencies, to ensure swift and efficient transportation and trade services. He emphasized the department’s dedication to deploying all resources to ease the process for Syrian nationals.
