Amman, Jan. 8 (Petra)– Minister of Transport, Nidal Al-Qatamin, on Thursday received Canada’s Ambassador to the Kingdom, Louis Martin Aumais, at his office, where the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various transport sectors in Jordan.
Al-Qatamin highlighted the depth and strength of the longstanding relations between Jordan and Canada, stressing the importance of building on these ties and broadening the scope of cooperation, particularly in the transport sector, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both countries.
The minister outlined key ongoing and planned transport projects in the Kingdom, including railway initiatives, public transportation systems, and logistics infrastructure. He noted the government’s strong commitment to developing this vital sector, given its role in supporting economic growth and improving service efficiency.
For his part, Ambassador Aumais praised the level of relations between Jordan and Canada, expressing his country’s readiness to support transport projects in the Kingdom and to share Canada’s advanced expertise in this field. He also conveyed Canada’s interest in encouraging Canadian companies to invest in and participate in major transport projects being implemented in Jordan.
Both sides underscored the importance of continued coordination and consultation, and agreed to explore available opportunities to enhance cooperation and translate it into practical projects that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals in Jordan.
