Amman, March 17 (Petra) — The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs on Tuesday condemned ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon, including a ground incursion into southern Lebanon, describing the actions as a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and a breach of international law and international humanitarian law.
In a statement, the Ministry said the escalation constitutes a serious threat to regional security and stability, calling for an immediate cessation of Israeli military operations and a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.
The Ministry also stressed the importance of full adherence to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, underscoring the need to enable Lebanese state institutions to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
It reiterated Jordan’s firm support for Lebanon’s security, stability, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens, as well as its backing of the Lebanese government’s efforts to extend state authority across all its territory, revitalize national institutions, and ensure that arms remain exclusively under state control.
The Ministry further called on the international community to assume its legal and moral obligations by compelling Israel to comply with international law and international humanitarian law, halt its attacks on Lebanon, and prevent further escalation and deterioration of the humanitarian and security situation.
