Jordan Hosts Arab Preparatory Meeting for 2025 Telecommunication Development Conference

Amman, Feb. 6 (Petra) – The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC), in cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Arab League, hosted on Thursday the first meeting of the Arab team preparing for the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) 2025 and the third study group meetings on Thursday.

According to a TRC statement, Chairman Bassam Sarhan emphasized that these meetings provide a crucial platform for member states to exchange knowledge and expertise, develop strategies, and shape policies that support the growth of the telecommunications sector. Discussions covered key technical and regulatory topics, along with sector challenges and opportunities.

Participants coordinated joint Arab efforts by reviewing priorities, proposals, and documents to align regional positions ahead of the WTDC 2025, which is scheduled for November in Azerbaijan. The meeting also addressed strategies for enhancing Arab representation, selecting team leadership, and establishing future work mechanisms.

Additionally, the TRC hosted meetings of the ITU’s third study group, attended by committee members and representatives from Arab countries, to discuss standardization efforts in the telecommunications sector.
