Jordan Hosts IIMSAM Headquarters to Advance Spirulina Solutions Against Malnutrition

Amman, January 26 (Petra) – Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hunaifat signed an agreement on Sunday with IIMSAM, an international organization promoting microalgae Spirulina to combat malnutrition. This agreement establishes IIMSAM’s headquarters in Jordan.

According to a ministry statement, Hunaifat emphasized that hosting IIMSAM’s headquarters aligns with national efforts to enhance food security and contribute sustainable solutions to the global malnutrition crisis, supporting public health and sustainable development initiatives.

IIMSAM Director General Mohammad Khader welcomed the milestone, expressing hopes to deepen collaboration with Jordan’s Ministry of Agriculture to expand awareness and implementation of Spirulina-based interventions as a sustainable, cost-effective remedy for malnutrition.

IIMSAM, founded in 2003 under the United Nations framework, engages governments, NGOs, and international organizations to promote Spirulina as a powerful tool in addressing food security challenges. Its objectives align closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly eradicating hunger and promoting good health and well-being.
