Amman, Nov. 7 (Petra)– Minister of Environment, Ayman Suleiman, met with his Iraqi counterpart, Hallo Mustafa Al-Askari, to explore prospects for bilateral cooperation in water resource management and efforts to combat desertification, on the sidelines of the COP30 climate summit in Belém, Brazil.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the shared environmental challenges facing both countrified among them dust and sandstorms, as well as the impacts of climate change on natural resources.
They emphasized the importance of strengthening regional coordination and exchanging expertise to address these cross-border phenomena.
Both sides also stressed the need to develop joint programs in integrated water resource management and to launch regional initiatives that help curb desertification and promote environmental sustainability across the region.
