Amman, January 12 (Petra) – Chairman of the Lower House Palestine Committee, Suleiman Saud, affirmed Jordan maintains “firm and continuous” humanitarian support to the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza Strip.
Chairing a committee meeting Sunday, in the presence of Secretary-General of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), Dr. Hussein Shebli, Saud noted this “remarkable” humanitarian role reflects Jordan’s “permanent” commitment to make human rights and just peace a priority in its domestic and foreign policies.
Jordan’s efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, were reflected in “practical” projects carried out by “pioneering” national institutions, primarily JHCO, which “successfully and effectively” contributed to providing emergency and developmental aid to the Palestinian people, Saud pointed out.
Carried out by JHCO under Royal directives, he stated Jordan continues its “firm” support for Palestine at all levels, and provides all forms of assistance to the Palestinian people in the fields of relief, health, education and development projects, which enhances their steadfastness to face daily challenges.
For his part, Shebli said the total aid provided to the Gaza Strip since 2002 until October 7, 2023, reached $200 million in various aid forms, while $248 million were extended until the beginning of this year.
Shebli noted the total value of the JHCO’s various aid to Palestine, including relief, food and medical supplies, in coordination with the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) from 1990 until the first month of this year, amounted to about $408.130 million.
