
Doha, Feb. 6 (Petra) – The 64th board meeting and 32nd General Assembly of the Arab Sea Ports Federation (ASPF) concluded in Doha on Thursday, with the participation of Jordan and representatives from 13 member states, alongside Arab and national maritime sector institutions.
The meeting, chaired by Abdullah Al-Khanji, CEO of Qatar Ports Management Company, emphasized the ASPF’s role in facilitating expertise exchange between Arab ports. Al-Khanji highlighted the increasing need for cooperation and integration in light of geopolitical challenges, stressing that joint efforts are essential to shaping the future of Arab sea ports.
He underscored that recent developments have demonstrated that port integration is a strategic necessity for sustainable development and competitiveness at regional and international levels. He affirmed Qatar Ports Management Company’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance cooperation through investment in infrastructure, technology, and knowledge exchange.
ASPF Secretary-General Essam El Din Badawy urged the implementation of the meeting’s recommendations to enhance port integration and improve performance.
Established in 1976 and headquartered in Alexandria, Egypt, the ASPF operates under the Arab League’s Council of Arab Economic Unity, working to advance the development of Arab seaports.
