Amman, Oct. 21 (Petra) — The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said that the Jordan Petroleum Refinery in Zarqa received 117,182 barrels of Iraqi crude oil between October 11 and 19, as part of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Jordan and Iraq, which was extended on September 17.
The ministry explained that the shipments’ complete quantities were delayed earlier for logistical reasons. Loading resumed on October 5 and will continue through December 31 to fulfill the agreed-upon volumes, ensuring a steady supply to meet part of the Kingdom’s crude oil needs.
It added that discussions are ongoing with the Iraqi side to renew the MoU for another year beyond its current expiration on June 26, 2025, under the same terms and specifications.
The ministry underlined that the continued implementation of the agreement reflects the two countries’ commitment to strengthening cooperation in the energy sector and supporting Jordan’s energy security.
