Amman, Jan 9 (Petra) — The Ministry of Interior announced Thursday the resumption of cross-border passenger transport services between Amman and Damascus, following coordination with Syrian authorities.
A senior ministry official stated that Jordanian and Syrian transportation vehicles can resume operations on the Amman-Damascus route starting Thursday. Operators must continue using the previously established electronic platform for advance registration.
The decision also permits Syrian passenger vans that were entering the Kingdom before recent events to resume operations until April 1, 2024.
The official emphasized that all transport vehicles, including vans, are restricted to carrying passengers only, with cargo transport strictly prohibited.
“This decision aims to enhance transport movement between both sides and enable transport operators to resume their business activities,” the official stated.
The announcement marks a significant step in normalizing cross-border movement between the two neighboring countries.
