Amman, Jan. 8 (Petra) – Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, said the ministry seeks to support investment opportunities and create partnership and cooperation with investors to develop agricultural industries from value-added crops.
Through the Economic Modernization Vision and National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture, he said the ministry seeks to support investment opportunities in developing agricultural industries that “positively” affect Jordan’s rural communities, provide job opportunities for youth and grow new crops.
The minister’s remarks came during a meeting Wednesday, with Algerian investor, Chakib Boublenza, who operates in crop cultivation and industry fields, in the presence of the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Jordan, Nabil Assaf.
Discussions went over ways to enhance investment opportunities and develop the ministry’s carob division under the project to develop the FAO-funded value-added chain in Jordan, according to a ministry statement.
The meeting also discussed enhanced cooperation with the Kingdom’s private sector to support the project, mainly carob production, cultivation and processing, as a” promising” opportunity for the product.
