Amman, Jan. 30 (Petra)– The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs welcomed the statement issued today by the Syrian government regarding the ceasefire agreement between Damascus and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), reached under a comprehensive framework that includes an understanding on a phased integration of military and administrative forces between the two sides.
The ministry described the agreement as an important step toward strengthening Syria’s unity, security, and stability.
The ministry’s official spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, reaffirmed Jordan’s firm and consistent position in supporting the Syrian government’s efforts aimed at safeguarding Syria’s security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
He stressed the importance of implementing the agreement in a manner that serves the interests of Syria and its brotherly people, and supports the country’s path toward recovery and reconstruction.
Ambassador Al-Majali also expressed the Kingdom’s appreciation for the role of the United States and the efforts exerted by the US Special Envoy to Syria, Ambassador Thomas Barrack, in reaching the agreement.
