Kassala, Feb. 1, 2026 (SUNA) – The Acting Wali of Kassala State, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Al-Sadiq Mohamed Al-Azraq, affirmed the unity and cohesion of the people of Eastern Sudan during the closing session of the Conference for the Unification of the People of the Eastern Sudan, held today in Aroma city.The conference, initiated by the Supreme Chieftain (Nazir) of the Hadandawa tribes, Mohamed Ahmed Al-Amin Tirik, was attended by Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Dr. Nuwara Abu Mohamed Tahir, Darfur Region Governor Minni Arko Minnawi, National Peace Commission Commissioner Prof. Suleiman Al-Debailo, and senior civil, political, military, and executive officials.Maj. Gen. Al-Azraq described the conference as a historic moment, stressing that the war facing Sudan is a national battle targeting the country as a whole. He praised the Sudanese Armed Forces and supporting forces in the “Battle of Dignity,” affirming that Eastern Sudan stands united behind the Armed Forces and the state’s leadership.He said the signing of a unity charter reflects the people of the Eastern Sudan’s commitment to safeguarding national unity and supporting the Armed Forces, calling for continued vigilance against attempts to sow sedition.For his part, Nazir Tirik dismissed rumours surrounding the conference, stating that it reflects the will of Eastern Sudanese communities. He called for reorganizing the East Sudan Development Fund with local participation and announced the nomination of General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan for the post-war presidency, alongside the formation of an inclusive government.Several native administration leaders also addressed the gathering, reaffirming their support for the Armed Forces.AS/BH
