Amman, Feb 3 (Petra) – The Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) confirmed that there is no new increase in passenger transport fares, whether via ride-hailing apps or yellow taxis.
In a statement on Tuesday, the LTRC explained that the reports circulating concern an executive regulatory measure aimed at ensuring licensed ride-hailing companies in the kingdom comply with existing laws and regulations, which stipulate that fares for trips conducted through ride-hailing apps should be 20% higher than the same trip’s fare according to the yellow taxi meter.
Accordingly, a trip that costs JD1 on the yellow taxi meter would have a total fare of JD1.2 when conducted through ride-hailing apps, in line with the previously approved regulatory framework, without any new adjustment to the pricing.
The LTRC stressed that this clarification is intended to prevent any confusion and that operations continue within the applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
