
Medellin International Poetry Festival Launches Palestine World Literature Award Medellin, Colombia, 15 Jul (ONA) —- The General Union of Palestinian Writers has launched the Palestine world literature award to give poets around the world a platform to express the suffering of Palestine and its people, support its just cause, and promote hope and freedom.
The announcement came at the conclusion of the Medellin International Poetry Festival, in collaboration with the World Poetry Movement.
The Award was announced in the presence of Secretary-General of the General Union of Palestinian Writers Murad Al Sudani and Director of the Medellin International Poetry Festival Fernando Rendon, with the participation of over 64 poets from around the world.
Commenting on this, Al Sudani said that the Award will entail the translation of the winning work into multiple languages as well as a monetary reward. He noted that the Board of Trustees, participation criteria, and full details will be announced at a later date.
Al Sudani also emphasized the importance of honoring global poetic voices that reject the ongoing genocide in Gaza, saying the award is a tribute to these noble humanitarian stances.
For his part, Rendon expressed full support for the initiative, stressing that the Award will be a vital addition to the international cultural front in solidarity with Palestine.—- Ends/Khalid
