Minnawi: Eastern Unity Conference Held to Thwart External Conspiracies

Kassala, Feb. 1, 2026 (SUNA) – The Governor of Darfur Region and head of the political committee of the Democratic Bloc, Minni Arko Minnawi, affirmed that the Conference for Unifying the People of Eastern Sudan, held under the initiative of Nazir (Chieftain) of the Hadandawa tribes, Mohamed Ahmed Al-Amin Tirik, was convened to thwart external conspiracies and silence proxies seeking to destabilize Sudan. He emphasized that the unity of Eastern Sudan represents the unity of all Sudanese people.Minnawi made these remarks during his address today, Sunday, at a mass rally in Aroma city, Kassala State, marking the conclusion of the conference held on January 31 and February 1 under the slogan: “With Unity, Nations are Built – Unity is Our Only Choice.” The event was attended by Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Dr. Nuwara Abu Mohamed, Acting Wali of Kassala State Maj. Gen. (Ret) Al-Sadiq Mohamed Al-Azraq, representatives from native administration, political figures, armed struggle movements, and delegates from Red Sea and Al-Gadarif states.Minnawi expressed his pride in participating in the conference, held in a historically significant area that produced Sudanese heroes, including Prince Osman Digna. He praised Nazir Tirik for his history and contributions to the national struggle, noting their shared efforts during periods of hardship and conspiracies, including opposition to the so-called Framework Agreement.He underscored that his principles during the Battle of Dignity were rooted in Sudanese unity, asserting: “When we say our government is one, our state is one, our people are one, and our army is one, it is not out of love for a person, group, or government, but out of love for the homeland.”Minnawi stressed that any federal, confederal, or union government should be established through the will of the people, rejecting what he described as a government of seizure and restructuring. He affirmed that the demands of the people of Eastern Sudan are legitimate and national.He called on all communities of Eastern Sudan to unify internally, highlighting the suffering caused by externally instigated wars, from which heroic leaders have emerged defending Sudan’s unity. He also hailed the Armed Forces and supporting forces in the Battle of Dignity for their sacrifices, including martyrs, the wounded, and the missing, in safeguarding the country’s stability.AS/BH
