Mobile
Service Subscriptions in Oman Exceed 8 Million by End of September
Muscat,
2 Nov (ONA) — The total number of mobile service subscriptions in the Sultanate
of Oman reached 8,070,342 by the end of last September, marking an increase of
11.5% compared to the same period in 2024, according to the latest data
released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
Postpaid
mobile phone subscriptions increased by 1.8%, reaching 1,255,718, while prepaid
subscriptions rose by 3.1%, totaling 5,236,783.
Internet
of Things service subscriptions achieved a growth of 69.6%, recording 1,577,841
subscriptions by the end of September 2025.
Internet
services also saw notable development, with the total number of active mobile
broadband subscriptions rising to 5,496,987. The total active fixed broadband
subscriptions increased by 3.3%, reaching 595,152.
Fiber
optic (FTTH/B) technology subscriptions grew by 12.2%, reaching 349,600, while
fixed 5G subscriptions saw a slight increase of 0.7%, reaching 219,135 by the
end of September 2025. In contrast, fixed 4G technology subscriptions declined
by 47.9%, recording 14,191 subscriptions.
Subscriptions
for Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) service decreased by 40%, totaling 10,737,
while satellite subscriptions increased by 10.5%, reaching 737. Other
subscriptions (which include internet service via power lines, Ethernet, and
leased internet lines) decreased by 10.9%, recording 752 subscriptions by the
end of September 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
