Momani: PM follows up on field visits under institutional plans

Amman, October 25 (Petra) – Minister of Government Communication, Mohammad Momani, said efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II reflect wisdom of Jordan’s policy and its “rational, balanced” approach.

In an interview with the “Sixty Minutes” Show aired last night by Jordan TV , Momani said Jordan’s global positions are “respected and appreciated by the international community.”

Momani, who is also the Government Spokesperson, noted the Prime Minister’s field visits are “institutionally planned, implemented, and monitored” within field work teams, as their details are announced in periodic reports released approximately every three months.

Momani also said “positive economic indicators call for optimism despite external challenges and the repercussions of crises.”

The minister added that these indicators show increased growth rates and exports, foreign currency reserves, foreign investments, and performance of the Amman Stock Exchange, which is “not seen in more than a decade and a half.”

Momani indicated that the government has a “genuine” will to make progress in achieving the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision, which focuses on raising the necessary economic growth rates to create job opportunities by attracting investments.

Noting the private sector as a “key” partner, he stated all Jordan’s economic and development efforts are based on joint partnership, as mutual continuous and intensive communication is maintained.

During its first year, he announced the government issued more than 200 economic decisions to support economic activity and facilitate access for citizens and investors, which contribute to strengthening Jordan’s economic indicators.

Momani also noted work continues to complete implementation of several major projects in the water, energy, and transport fields, mainly National Water Carrier project, which will start at the beginning of next year.

Momani stated “qualitative strides” have been made in the public transport field, most notably regular transport routes connecting the governorates of Karak, Irbid, and Jerash with the capital, Amman.

Additionally, he said the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project will expand to the governorates adjacent to the capital, following the “successful” pilot implementation of the Amman-Madaba route.

The government is primarily focused on improving health and education services, as there are dozens of projects to establish or expand hospitals, health centers, and schools in various governorates, he pointed out.

Momani said the social responsibility project initiated by the Kingdom’s private sector will contribute to support the government’s efforts in this regard.

On the legislative front, Momani cited the Prime Minister’s directives to enhance cooperation with the Lower House of Representatives to complete draft laws and engage within the constitutional legislative and oversight framework, which would promote and activate the Kingdom’s political modernization process.
