1,400 Omanis Get Jobs in Transport, Logistics Sector During Q1 of 2025

Muscat, 14 Apr (ONA) — The Ministry of Transport,
Communications and Information Technology launched a number of initiatives
during 2025 to enhance employment opportunities in the transport, logistics and
information technology sectors.

The first quarter of 2025 saw the employment of 1,450 Omanis
in the transport and logistics sector, in addition to 236 Omanis in the
information technology sector, in conjunction with a significant decline in the
percentage of expatriates working in the transport, logistics and information
technology sectors.

The Ministry targets the employment of 4,950 Omanis in the
transport and logistics sector, in addition to 430 Omanis in the information
technology sector by the end of 2025.

During the first quarter of 2025, the Ministry achieved its 21
percent target Omanization rate in the transport and logistics sector
activities. It aims to achieve a 10 percent Omanization rate in technical and
leadership positions by the end of 2025.

In the information technology sector activities, the
Ministry seeks to achieve an Omanization rate of 63 percent and to raise the
percentage of Omani workers in technical, specialized and leadership positions
to 41 percent. This is envisaged through the implementation of various
policies, regulations and initiatives tailored to regulate the governance
of the labour market in the sectors of transport and logistics sector, the
information technology sector and information technology sector initiatives.

The Ministry also launched an initiative to finance and
support the wages of Omanis in specialized professions and projects in the
field of information technology. It set binding Omanization rates for
government projects and procurement. It also officiated a programme of freelance
work for Omanis, along with training and qualifications for freelance work that
generates income in the field of information technology. It also provided
on-the-job training opportunities for jobs related to investment projects in
the information technology sector.
