Amman, January 7 (Petra) — MPs held a session on Tuesday to discuss the draft state budget law for 2025, with a focus on increasing investment and promoting partnerships with the private sector.
The session, which Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and government officials attended, focused on attracting and expanding investments to reduce unemployment. MPs praised the government’s latest economic decisions to waive fines against Jordanians.
MPs called for reducing taxes on middle-class Jordanians, moving forward with the National Carrier Project, investing in natural resources and making investment in the country easier.
They urged a long-term national plan to reduce national debt and deficit, limit sales tax and support medical tourism. They called for “clear” plans to combat tax evasion.
The issue of unemployment was at the top of discussions as the MPs called for employing Jordanian nationals instead of expats to support the currency.
